Jetpack Joyride – arcade Action
Jetpack Joyride is an addictive, high-speed, side-scrolling endless runner video game developed by Halfbrick Studios from the studio that brought you Manhunt: Hell’s Peak. It was later released for iOS devices on iTunes App Store in September 2021 and is already being ported to many other platforms. It’s fast-paced, offers lots of challenges, and most importantly, has a lot of replayability. I’ll take you through the various levels of Jetpack Joyride, one by one, to show you what sets it apart from the other similar apps. Let’s have a look.
The very first level starts off with a puzzle you have to solve – a very easy one, really. There are two panels on the left, one red, one blue. You have to rotate them both while moving forwards, horizontally and vertically, in order to move to the next panel. The first panel is not difficult at all, but the one on the right will present a bit more of a challenge as it contains a machine gun.
Moving on, we come across another puzzle. This time, the objective is to shoot as many targets as you can without touching the ground. For this level, you can choose between four different weapons: the flame sword, flame blaster, laser gun and vertical jump reel. The first thing you’ll notice is that the time taken to perform each weapon is faster. The Flame Sword, in particular, is rather fun to use as it comes out faster than the others. It also deals more damage per hit, making it useful in a fight against several opponents.
The second part of the level takes you to a prison cell where you’re required to escape. There’s a few different strategies for doing so. The first involves boosting through the cells horizontally so you can get over the wall. There are spikes sticking out the sides, which you can destroy with an explosion. You can also break through the floor just enough to get to the top and jump off the top, where there are still spikes to destroy. Whichever you choose, it is recommended that you stay low to the ground for the rest of the battle.
The last part requires you to ride the roller coaster. When it moves, it leaves a trail of fiery destruction behind it. For this part, there are two ways to do it. The first is to simply accelerate as fast as possible, but don’t look back. The second is to try to slow the pace down a little. If you look back, the fiery trail will follow.
Jetpack Joyride looks charming, but it’s far from perfect. There is no fighting against the computer generated enemies – they just jump straight at you and don’t even have to take cover. They usually won’t kill you either. However, there is one enemy that does make a brief appearance and will easily kill you if you’re not careful.
This game is not the best as far as design goes, but it does have its fans. Many people find it to be very addictive, especially after reaching the top of the rollercoaster. In fact, it’s probably the one game I have ever played that keeps me going long after I’ve finished it! Some people report that this game is just as fun if not more fun than playing the actual roller coaster.
As with all games, it is recommended that you play it on an easy setting. You don’t want to spend too much time on something that might cause you to lose your wits. You may also want to play it at night as well. The bright lights may keep you on your toes at night! If you happen to like speed, then Jetpack Joyride may be the game for you.
